Jim is a Business Development Director for BrightInsight, which provides a cloud software platform and associated digital health applications for medical device and pharmaceutical companies. He works with BrightInsight’s medical device, invitro diagnostic, and pharmaceutical company clients to develop clinical use cases and associated software development opportunities for Software as a Medical Device (SAMD) applications that BrightInsight can produce on their behalf or in collaboration with its clients.
Prior to joining BrightInsight, Jim was a Business Development Director for Emergo by UL for two years. Emergo provides consulting services and solutions for medical device, invitro diagnostic, and pharmaceutical companies. Jim focused his efforts on developing business opportunities, new products and services, and strategic partnerships for Emergo’s compliance, regulatory, human factors research and design, clinical research, and digital health business lines. He also led business development for Emergo’s cybersecurity and data privacy consulting services.
Jim also spent 34 years working at ECRI institute, most recently as Vice President, International Market Development and Vice President, Health Technology Evaluation and Safety. The focus of Jim’s work at ECRI was to lead ECRI efforts to provide (1) healthcare organizations with guidance on the selection of “best fit” medical technology for their clinical applications and (2) advice on best practices for health technology management.
Jim is a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and the American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE). He is also Past-President of ACCE and a member of the University of Connecticut’s Academy of Distinguished Engineers.
