DirectTrust™ is a non-profit, vendor-neutral alliance dedicated to instilling trust in the secure exchange of health information for improved patient care.
As a membership organization, DirectTrust also serves as a governance forum, trust community and network, standards organization, and accreditation body for persons and entities engaged in exchange utilizing the Direct Standard™, supported by DirectTrust’s robust security and trust framework. In 2019, the organization reached the milestone of one billion messages sent and received through the DirectTrust network since 2014.
The goal of DirectTrust is to develop, promote, and, as necessary, help enforce the rules and best practices needed to maintain security and trust within the Direct Secure Messaging and broader Health IT communities. Beyond the Direct Standard, DirectTrust also convenes Consensus Bodies to foster secure communication through Trusted Instant Messaging+, as well as Notifications to meet the CMS Conditions of Participation.
DirectTrust is committed to fostering widespread public confidence in the interoperable exchange of health information.
